Master Bath Remodel — finished

The project

The story

A beige builder bath turned moody spa — teal walls, black marble-look tile and a freestanding soaking tub under the window.

Dark colour in a bathroom only works when there is natural light to push against, which is why the tub sits under the window rather than against a wall. Black marble-look tile carries the veining that keeps a dark surface from reading flat. A freestanding tub also buys back the visual space a built-in surround eats — you can see floor underneath it, and the room feels bigger for it.
